Joey Fatone will be the host of the NBC's (GE) karaoke-based show, The Singing Bee, where contestants will compete to see who best lip-synchs lyrics. Fatone is a former 'N Sync member and recently competed in Dancing with the Stars, where he finished as a finalist.
In response to Fox (NWS-A) announcing they're going to launch their similar reality show "Don't Forget the Lyrics!" on July 11, NBC is moving The Singing Bee up from its scheduled fall launch to begin on July 10 in the 9:30 p.m. slot.
Fox's Don't Forget the Lyrics! will be hosted by comic Wayne Brady.
Hopefully the chess game between the two networks doesn't end up like their last battle where Fox trumped the debut of NBC's boxing show "The Contest," when they introduced their own show "The Next Great Champ." Both of the shows did terrible in the ratings.
