According to the New York Post, NBC (GE) has offered $1 million to be the first network to interview Paris Hilton after she gets out of jail.
The deal will involve her being in a sit-down interview with Meredith Vieira on The Today Show, the day after she is free. Vieira reportedly landed the interview because Hilton refuse to talk to her co-host Matt Lauer who hasn't been so kind to Paris.
Executives at ABC (DIS) sound like they went through the rood as the Peacock did an end-around and contacted her father Rick. ABC thought they had it in the bag because Barbara Walters has built a relationship with Hilton's mother, Kathy.
I'm actually a little impressed with Jeff Zucker for landing the interview. He personally called up Hilton's dad to make the deal. I wonder what he got out of it?
This can't hurt NBC as nothing has been going right for it for quite awhile. Nobody is willing to publicly comment on the deal.
