It looks like the outrageous prices that were thrown around to get the Paris Hilton interview would have been a waste of money, as even though she helped Larry King win his timeslot, it wasn't enough to win the night for CNN.
For King's 9:00 p.m. slot, he won there, drawing 3.1 million viewers during that time. It was able to beat out Hannity & Colmes on Fox News, who finished with 1.6 million viewers, and also Scarborough Country on MSNBC, which was only able to attract 502,000 viewers.
With all the hype, CNN needed to have the Larry King interview of Paris Hilton at least bring them to a Wednesday night victory, it didn't. The 3.1 million viewers had to be a disappointment to them.
The usual strong showing of The O'Reilly Factor, with a total 2.5 million viewers, helped Fox (NWS-A) to win the night. The network averaged 1.858 million viewers for the primetime hours, edging out CNN's 1.851 million average, and MSNBC's (GE)anemic 279,000 average.
Maybe the Paris Hilton currency is starting to be discounted.
