After a number of denials, it has finally been admitted that the Sci FI Channel's series "Battlestar Galactica" will definitely terminate at the end of the coming season. Rumors have been swirling since it was announced months ago that the network was extending the number of the episodes for the season from 13 to 22.
Just recently Edward James Olmos said that this would definitely be the end of the series, which was denied by the channel.
"This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and, finally, an end," producers of the show David Eick and Ronald Moore said in a statement. "Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end, and we've decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms. And while we know our fans will be saddened to know the end is coming, they should brace themselves for a wild ride getting there -- we're going out with a bang."
Eick and Moore cited it as a "creative decision" as the reason for bringing it to an end.
The last season will begin with a two-hour episode in November and then pick up again right after the new year.
