In what promises to be an entertaining and educational experience, Turner Classic Movies is going to premiere a new documentary called Spielberg on Spielberg, on Monday July 9, at 8 p.m. et.
A press release announcing the show says that Spielberg will talk about his fast, successful rise in Hollywood, and take a look at the films that helped him get there.
What makes this documentary important is Spielberg has never recorded a commentary track connected to home video releases of any of his movies, so it will be exclusive to the viewers when Spielberg openly talks in detail about a number of his films. Should be good stuff. I plan on watching it.
Producing the 90-minute documentary is Richard Schickel, who did shows similar to this one with Martin Scorsese and Woody Allen.
Following the Spielberg on Spielberg documentary will be his first Oscar-nominated show "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and "Jaws."
