Spike TV, in a celebration of father's in the life of children, are launching their "True Dads" promotion on Father's Day.
In their press release, Spike TV said the promotion is a "national outreach campaign designed to celebrate the unique and transformative relationship that is fatherhood." The network has enlisted former New York Yankee legend Don Mattingly to be the spokesman for the campaign, which is called "Catch On."
The goal of the initiative is to help fathers through "encourgement and resources" in their various capacities to have a positive influence on future generations.
The "True Dads" will feature Don Mattingly in its first promotion on Father's Day, Sunday, June 17, on Spike TV. He will encourage Dads to go out and play catch with their sons or daughters with a Frisbee, baseball or whatever. From there, Dads are encouraged to visit the spiketruedads.com website and upload a picture showing what they did with their time spent with their children.
The overall website will show real Dads who take an active role in the lives of their children. They've also partnered with the National Fatherhood Initiative, among
others, to help and aid Dads by promoting fatherhood through numerous advertising mediums like television, outdoor, Internet and print.
Spike TV is a unit of Viacom (VIA-B), which will run the promotion through Labor Day of 2007
