Kyra Sedgwick had come to the point of feeling a little sorry for herself with her acting career seeming to take forever to take off. She lamented to her husband Kevin Bacon on that topic, but those days are now gone.
Not only has Kyra Sedgwick won a Golden Globe for "The Closer," but she's reputed to be one of the highest paid actresses on television. Numbers thrown out, but not confirmed, have been between $250,000 to $300,000 per episode.
Her show is now the highest-rated original series on basic cable, averaging 6.5 million viewers.
"She richly deserves what she got," said Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks. "We've taken good care of her, and she has done the same for us. She's our queen."
TNT likes her so much that they signed her to another four years and has the role of producer added to her credits.
With Sedgwicks' growing popularity, she's being offered other roles in movies too. She's partnered with The Rock, in a football comedy where she plays a ruthless sports agent.
"Maybe I would have gotten the movie but probably I would have had to audition, and it would have been harder (for the director) to hire me," Sedgwick says. "My hope is that now it's easier for people who have wanted to hire me, to hire me. That I'm bankable."
It looks like Sedgwick won't have any time to think about where her career's at; it's grabbed hold of her and won't let go.
