
Jane Blaney, USA's senior vice president, programming, announced that the USA Network has landed the rights to the third film in the "Pirates" trilogy "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.
Terms of the agreement are USA will have the network window premiere starting in September 2009.
"This acquisition completes USA's ownership of rights to the 'Pirates' trilogy, and we couldn't be more thrilled," said Blaney. "It's one of the most popular franchises in film history and our viewers have made it clear that it's a favorite of theirs."
The franchise has worked great for USA as "Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl" finished as their highest-rated movie over the last five years in the 25-54 demo. "Pirates" through its USA premiere and following primetime runs, has established it as the top cable movie since its USA release.
