The list of the 10 most expensive celebrity photos by Forbes has the biological baby of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as the highest priced photo of all time, coming in at $4.1 million, with People Magazine coughing up the big dollars.
All the prices here are those paid within the United States. Forbes added that they were only able to measure according to published reports, as the industry is pretty silent on the actual numbers concerning the photos.
With so much happening in the celebrity world since 2005, it's hard to believe that the wedding of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore brought the second highest price ever, with a payout of $3 million for the nuptial photos.
In the top ten photos prices published, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Anna Nicole Smith accounted for seven out of biggest photo payouts.
The reason for the prices are like anything else related to business: demand. And those that demand the pictures are the celebrity weeklies which seek to oneup each other with the best pictures.
Like any luxury product, which celebrities are, the right pictures will sell the product the best; and celebrities are definitely in the luxury product category in the minds of readers and consumers.
What is different about this with celebrities, is people like to see them in everyday circumstances where they're hair may be messed up or are seen without makeup. People are into reality these days more than the fantasy the industry has been selling over the decades.
Some of the more popular topics of photos are: when celebrities do or say stupid things, have a baby, get married, are partying or getting caught doing something illegal.
