For season seven of "24," Fox has picked Cherry Jones to play the new president. With the show flattening in viewership, the network has chosen to make some changes this year to retain the interest of viewers.
The Tony Award-winning actress for "The Heiress" and "Doubt," will play President Allison Taylor when the show returns in January. She also has credits in "The Village" and "Ocean's Twelve."
The show's producers, who have had a history of juggling their presidents, say they've been thinking of inserting a female president in the show for some time.

This is the first major addition to the show for the new season.
