After the announcement from Bob Barker that he was going to be retiring from "The Price is Right," CBS (CBS-A) knew the search had to begin immediately for a replacement. While the field seems to be narrowing down, the name that sprang up recently was Drew Carey as a potential replacement for the game show legend.
CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler confirmed they were negotiating with Carey as one of the possible candidates to fill Barker's shoes. "We're in talks with Drew, but it would be stupid for us not to be in talks in Drew," she said.
Carey has already signed on with CBS to host a primetime game show "Power of 10," which will premiere on August 7.
When asked about other potential candidates, Tassler said it wouldn't be fair to others being considered to release the names.
Barker has been the host of the game show since 1972, while taping the final show on June 6.
