Echostar's Dish Network (DISH) will be adding another eight regional sports networks to its programming starting Wednesday. This builds on its nine other regional sports channels it added earlier in the year.
There will be networks added in the North and Northwest, with Arizona, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Cincinnatti also included in the new launches. They will also launch SportsNet New York and SportsTime Ohio.
Other initiatives by the company include an additional seven high-definition channels added nationally later in the summer and in early fall.
High-definition channels added will be Animal Planet, Discovery, History, Golf/Versus, TLC and The Science Channel. The last high-def channel will be music channel MHD, which includes music programming from VH1, CMT and MTC.
