"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" continues to dominate the international box office as it took in another $100.8 million over the weekend on over 13,000 screens.
That brings the total take for overseas sales at a huge $351.3 million, already $143.8 million more than the North American total. It confirms the need for studios to have a strong showing outside of the domestic market, which fortunatly for them has been happening all summer.
For the "Transformers," they continued strong as well, taking in a solid $34 million while showing at 4,315 screens. When you consider "Phoenix" was shown in 58 markets and three times the screens, this isn't a bad performance for the film, which was offered in 42 markets. It has now brought in $455 million worldwide.
"Live Free or Die Hard," which is dubbed "Die Hard 4" overseas, came in third internationally, finishing at about $23 million at 5,500 screens. That brings the total overseas to $155.7 million.
Bringing up the fourth spot was "Shrek the Third," which has had long legs, as it drew another $10.6 million, to now reach a hefty $381.4 million.
