The very average reviews accompanying the soon to be released "Harry Potter" movie won't have any impact upon those wanting to view the movie.
It's similar to "Lord of the Rings" in that fans won't listen to the reviewer "outsiders" who don't appreciate the nuances that fans understand. For fans, the movie is already great, they don't have any regard for critics.
The fifth film in the series, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," so far is outselling other summer releases "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," and "Spider-Man 3" in advance ticket sales, according to Fandango.com.
I don't think Warner Bros. (TWX) studio has too much to be worried about, even with the lukewarm reception by critics, fans aren't going to respond in any way to their input.
People wanting to see this movie have read the books, and will know what's happening far more than those watching the movie alone. They understand what this particular film is setting up the last two movies for. This film will do real good, even with some fairly strong competition from "Transformers" and "Ratatouille."
It opens Wednesday in North America at 4,285 theaters, and in 44 other markets across the world. On July 21 the last book of the series will be released, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Gallows."
