Jim Carrey has signed on to play Ebenezer Scrooge in the Walt Disney Pictures' adaptation of "A Christmas Carol." He will not only play Scrooge, but also the three ghosts that end up haunting him in the classic story.
The film will be shot with “performance capture/Disney digital 3-D" animation, the same technology he introduced in "Polar Express." The show will include animation and live action combined.
Robert Zemeckis scripted the show for the Mouse, and will also direct it. Zemeckis said he wrote the script specifically with Carrey in mind.
The project will be produced by Zemeckis, Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke, via ImageMovers Digital.
Carrey has a full slate ahead of him. In addition to "A Christmas Carol," there's “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!,” “Sober Buddies,” “Me Time" and “Sweeney Todd,” which is in post-production.
