In what ends up with more questions than answers, ABC (DIS) Entertainment president Stephen McPherson told a group of TV reporters at the TCA press tour that Michael, the character played by Harold Perrineau, will return next season to "Lost."
Of course the immediate thought is what capacity will he be returning in. There are a lot of things that could be done with not only his character, but his TV son Walt as well. Will Walt return with him? Will Michael be revealed as connected to someone's past? Will there be a larger role for him?
The fact that he's returning of course should have some major significance. If nothing else, the explanation of where he's been and what he's been doing would be a must-tell story. It would also probably have a major impact on the rest of the group concerning their future. After all, what would be the purpose of returning him to the story if he didn't have a unique significance?
This to me is a good move by the network to stir up some interest and get people ready for new happenings in the new season. The show has been losing viewers who want to be given a reason to come back. Maybe this will be a first step in stirring up the pot again.
