Taking advantage of the slower summer months, NBC Digital Entertainment is building up its NBC.com website adding a number features to increase it's interactivity with visitors.
One of the new features visitors will be able to use is the ability to create a customizable profile where they can partake in online communities centered around NBC programming.
Toward the end of August, there will also be a new opportunity for fans of "The Office" to join the site and develop new branches which will correspond with an online job fair. Once the branches are launched, there will be tasks assigned from the corporate office to be performed.
The specific tasks will for the most part be connected to what is going on in the show, but there will also be some tasks that will be unique to the Internet. This is an attempt at drawing fans deeper into the experience of the show. It could be compelling for those that faithfully follow the show.
There will also be a component added where you can interact with other office branches developed across the network.
NBC is also working on its first video series created for the Internet called "Coastal Dreams."

I know that not everyone is a fan of the mockumentary, but I'm glad that the Office survived. I had an opportunity to check out American Body Shop this weekend and was pleased to see this phenomenon growing. It's just as funny as the Office, except they are fixing cars. It's a breath of fresh air, after all the reality shows of auto body shops.
