Paula Zahn will be leaving CNN, with rumors confirmed she'll be replaced by Campbell Brown. Her final show will air on August 2.
Zahn, 51, joined CNN six years ago, jumping from the popular Fox News Channel (NWS-A).
Concerning the move, Zahn said, "As all of the stories were being written, Jon Klein and I were talking very amicably about where we both wanted to go. You're not going to survive very long in this business if you internalize every rumor that is out there. To a certain extent, my staff and I were able to drown out the noise and do what we were expected to do."
She added that she'll be taking some time off, but expects to stay working in the television industry.
Zahn had a difficult assignment in that she was competing against powerhouse Bill O' Reilly and MSNBC's Keith Olbermann. It was one of the more competitive time slots. Even so, she was able to make some headway this year with her ratings increasing.
Obviously that wasn't enough for CNN, who obviously thinks there wasn't a lot of upside in keeping her.
Others at the network will fill in until Campbell Brown starts in November.
