The first solo album released by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder will be for his friend Sean Penn and his upcoming movie "Into the Wild." Also contributing to the soundtrack is Oscar-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla.
This isn't Vedder's first foray into writing for movies, as he's also written songs for I Am Sam and Dead Man Walking. Some of the film was shot in Vedder's home town of Seattle and is said to be making a cameo appearance in the film.
The film is based on a true story of the bestselling book by Jon Krakauer, who wrote of Christopher McCandless, who after graduating from college, left his possessions and gave his savings to charity while taking a trek to Alaska to live in the wilderness.
Emile Hirsh will play the role of McCandless. Others in the film are Vince Vaughn, Kristen Stewart, Catherine Keener, William Hurt, Marcia Gay Harden, Zach Galifianakis and Haley Ramm.
