
Battling cancer since 1996, Tammy Faye Messner succomed to the disease Friday morning. Larry King was asked by the family to make a delayed announcement on the show. King relayed the message that "She died peacefully."
Tammy Faye had been a guest on the Larry King show Thursday, when she responded to a question from King if she was scared, and she replied, "A little bit." She said her concerns were mainly for her family. On the show is was somewhat shocking to see her condition, as she said she weighed only 65 pounds at the time.
Messner's life was one of many struggles and ups and downs that were played out in the public eye.
Along with the scandals connected to former husband Jim Bakker, she also had a public battle with prescription drug addiction, which she was treated for at the Betty Ford center. Her second husband, Roe Messner, also had to serve jail time as well.
Messner had written several books and recorded over 25 albums.
In her last interview with King, Messner said she concerning her expected time left, "I don't have any date written on me anywhere that says I'm going to die at any time, and so I just give it to the Lord."







My children used to watch The Jim and Tammy show which featured puppets in the late 1960s - before Tammy discovered make-up!
