For people in the US, watching television accounts for half of all leisure activity, according to the US Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics' "American Time Use Survey."
Those aged 15 and older took part in the study, which found men and women spent about the same amount of time watching the television.
This goes along with the findings of a June 2007 study by Edison Media Research and Arbitron, which confirmed that consumers are increasing their viewing of televison and use of the Internet.
For those that play games, television is watched for less than five hours weekly, while video gmes were played for over 4 hours a week.
