Warner Bros. has been out prowling for more goodies to put on the big screen. With the continued success of the "Harry Potter" series, it has looked to that genre again as a source of material.
They've also picked another U.K. author, Angie Sage, to secure the rights to her book series - "Semptimus Heap."
The series, which has produced three published books so far, centers around the story of babies who have been switched at birth, who discover they're destined to be important people in the world they inhabit. The boy finds out he'll become a great wizard, while the girl learns she's destined to become a princess.
With the popular series being translated into 28 languages, it offers Warner another chance to have a strong, international, built in audience; something this year has proven to be necessary for the success of even the top films.
Producing "Septimus Heap: Magyk" will be Karen Rosenfelt, with Angie Sage executive producing the project. The story, similar to Harry Potter, is scheduled for a seven-book series. So far it has sold over 1 million copies in the U.S.
