With an audience that definitely leans right, "24" has taken a chance by enlisting Janeane Garofalo as part of the cast. Garofalo is slated to play a government agent investigating the next crisis Jack Bauer has to deal with.
In most cases people wouldn't pay too much attention to this, but Garofalo is so nutty that it could make an impact on whether people will watch the show or not.
I'm sure someone in the decision-making process was thinking the exact opposite, in that it would draw people out of curiosity to watch her play the character. I think it's a mistake to take her on the show.
She also has a history of not getting along with her coworkers as she left her last job when she couldn't get along with cohost of The Majority Report Sam Seder.
The show itself has already suffered a couple production delays, the latest being the writers lack of enough script to get the production running smoothly.
Shooting is now rescheduled to begin September 10.

If you're going to make a bold statement like "Janeane Garafalo is nutty," you should at least try to back it up. What's so nutty about her? Or do you just dislike her politics? I've got news for you, kid, having a different opinion than you do does not make someone crazy.
