The runner-up for the 6th season of American Idol, Blake Lewis, has signed a record deal with 19 Recordings/ARISTA Records. His first album is scheduled for release late 2007.
Lewis is currently on tour with the "American Idol Live" concerts. Somehow he's squeezing in time to work on the new album with a all-star lineup of producers and songwriters; including Sean Kingston, Jonathan (JR) Rotem, S*A*M & Sluggo and Ryan "Alias" Tedder.
"I love performing, so spending the summer on the road has been a great experience," says Lewis. "But I'm also enjoying my time in the studio and I'm very excited about recording my debut album. I'm thrilled to be working with 19 Recordings and ARISTA Records"
Simon Fuller, who created the American Idol show and is also CEO and founder of 19 Entertainment Label Group said, "Blake is one of the most unique 'Idol' contestants I've ever seen. He brought something new to the competition and won fans all over America. I know they're going to love his first album, because it shows him off as his very best."
Lewis has already attained a spot in The Billboard Hot 100 with his renditions of the Zombies' "Time of the Season" and Bon JOvi's "You Give Love a Bad Name."
