After a short admission to University College London hospital on Wednesday morning, Amy Whinehouse was diagnosed with "severe exhaustion" and has been advised by doctors to take a complete rest.
"Amy was discharged from the hospital this afternoon and has been advised to take complete rest," her label, Island Records, said in a statement.
Her "Rehab" tour is on indefinite hiatus, and her performances scheduled for Denmark and Norway aren't known when they'll be rescheduled. She has also missed a number of engagements in the UK over the last month due to illness.
It's uncertain when the singer will restart the tour. Winehouse has dates scheduled in the U.S. starting Sept. 12 in New York.
Her second album "Back in Black" has been a hit in the U.S., with over 1 million albums sold and a place in the Billboard Top 10 throughout the summer.
She has also been nominated for three 2007 MTV Video Awards: Video of the Year, Best New Artist and Female Artist of the Year.
