
For the fifth week in a row, the Disney Channel (DIS) won the basic cable ratings war with an average of 3.06 million viewers.
Disney continued its usual strong showing in the youth demo, as it averaged 1.29 million viewers in the 6-11 group, and 1.07 million in the 9-14 demo.
The mouse also landed eight of basic cable's top 20 programs last week, getting big numbers from its premiere of Ella Enchanted, which drew almost 5 million viewers in the 8 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. time slot. Of course their core shows, The Suite LIfe of Zach & Cody and Hannah Montana continues to draw big numbers.
The USA Network finished in first place for ad-supported channels drawing an average 3.94 million viewers, while taking the top three demos as well. In the 25-54 demo, they averaged 1.3 million; for the key 18-49 demo they drew 1.36 million; and in the 18-34 they averaged 561,000.
USA was able to hold three of the top five rated shows as well, with their popular WWE Raw drawing 5.26 million in their two-hour Monday slot, and Monk continued strong with 5.1 million viewers.
In other good news for the network, their new dramas Burn Notice and Psyche continued to do well, as Psyche drew 4.43 million viewers on Friday and Burn Notice wasn't far behind with 4.14 million for Thursday night.
TNT was second for ad-supported networks with 2.3 million average viewers. Their hugely successful "The Closer" continued to be the top performing program on cable, drawing 7.53 million viewers on its August 6 episode.
