According to an article in the New York Post, "High School Musical" stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens have rejected an offer by Walt Disney Co. (DIS) to reprise their roles in a big screen movie. The two have reportedly been offered $1 million each to play the parts.
The Post says they've received a tip saying Disney is "only offering them $1 million each. Zac and Vanessa aren't going to do it."
A spokesman for the studio responded saying, "We are still in negotiations with the entire cast, but we don't comment on the specifics of negotiations."
It does make me wonder if this is wise or not on their part. The question rises if it's the show that's making the stars, which in this case I think it is. Would the audience that loves "High School Musical" care that much whether these two are in the show? It's hard to tell in that demographic.
It seems the brand is "High School Musical," not Zac and Vanessa. Even without the two I think a big screen version would be a hit.
Of course the negotiations are still going on, and I'm sure the end game hasn't been played by either parties at this time.

um i think the movie needs zac and vanessa it wouldnt be the same and i wouldnt watch it and i know tons of prole that wouldnt and im 16 just to let you know
