
It looks like Jackie Chan won't be performing before the home crowd, as China has banned the newest installment of the action comedy series Rush Hour 3.
While Xiao Ping, China Film Group's import and export department, said "We think it will not be popular in China," in reality it seems it was more because the introduction of Triad gang members in the film got Chinese authorities in a huff.
The film bureau maintains its for commercial reasons alone.
In China, only 20 movies from foreign countries are allowed in the country per year. Those that are allowed in many cases are edited and censored to the point of making dramatic impact upon the film.
I guess they really didn't want to see this one, as dumping on one of your national heroes can cause quite as stir, which it evidently has in China.
