It didn't take long for the relatives of murder victim Ron Goldman to act against O.J. Simpson in his latest attempt to make money using his image and name.
Simpson had been acquitted of murder charges in the sensationalized case, but was ruled legally responsible for the deaths of Goldman and Simpson's former wife Nicole by a civil court, which brought a judgment against Simpson for $33.5 million.
Simson has said he is innocent and will never volutarily pay the award.
The latest episode in the saga has the Goldman family going after "Take-Two Interactive Software," a gaming company that developed video games like "Manhunt 2" and "Grand Theft Auto."
The company has created a sports game called "All-Pro Football 2K8" which showcases the likenesses of 240 retired NFL players, of which one is Simpson.
The game allows users to assign the various players to any one of a number of fictional teams, one which is called "The Assassins." The mascot for this particular team is a hooded figure with a large knife that make stabbing motions when the team scores. A trailer for the game shows Simpson scoring and the hooded figure doing its thing.
A Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge has ordered Take-Two to pay any earnings "have been paid, are due or may be due in the future" to the Golman estate. The court also ordered Simpson to turn over copies of the contract to the court, along with any other undisclosed financial deals.
Simpson's lawyer, Ronald Slates, argued that the court has no jurisdiction over Simpson who has resided in Florida for several years.
