Simon Cowell is extending his "American Idol" franchise as he writes the script for an upcoming movie called "Starstruck."
Cowell compares the realism to the "Rocky" movies which starred Sylvester Stallone.
One change Cowell won't be making is how he will get roles for the film. He said similar to "American Idol," he will make casting decision based upon open auditions he'll have throughout the U.S.
Concerning the storyline, Cowell revealed "It is about 10 contestants who enter a gigantic singing contest. It's like Rocky. It's about good versus evil, and it will be very, very realistic.
"I'm going to cast the lead parts through an open audition process across America. So if you get through the auditions, and you get a part in this movie, it's a huge, huge deal."
It sounds interesting, but it makes me wonder if people will really want to watch a movie based upon a reality tv series.
