When three new openers aren't able to break into the top three movies for the weekend, you know the summer box office is about over. That and Bourne Ultimatum moving from third to second in its fourth weekend confirms the weakening of the box office.
The best new offerings could do was fourth place, with Mr. Bean's Holiday coming in with a weak $10.1 million. War starring Jet Li and Jason Stathom was right behind them in fifth place, taking in $10 million, and Nanny Diaries was only able to draw $7.8 million for its opener.
Superbad dropped by 45 percent over last week, but was still able to hold on to first place, bringing in another $18 million to reach a domestic total of $68 million so far.
As I mentioned, Bourne Ultimatum went up to second place with a $12.4 million effort. It now stands at $185.1 million, and should reach $200 million.
Rush Hour 3 dropped to the number three position, drawing $12.25 million, to bring its domestic total to $109 million.
