The coverage by ESPN (DIS) of the game that eventually became New York Met's pitcher Tom Glavine's 300th win, drew some of the best numbers for the network in years.
The 3.0 rating and 3.6 million viewers were the largest numbers for a regular season baseball game in a while. The 3.0 rating was the best since 2002, while the 3.6 million viewers were the largest since 1999, according to Nielsen Media Research.
For a Sunday Night Baseball telecast on ESPN it was also the best numbers since August 30, 1998.
Baseball has provided ESPN some great opportunities for numbers to increase this year as a number of milestones have drawn a lot of interest from fans, including Barry Bonds chase of Hank Aarons alltime homerun record.
