
In a poll by magazine Total Film, Alfred Hitchcock was named the greatest director of all time, topping other directing greats like Marting Scorcese and Steven Spielberg, who took the who second and third place spots in the poll.
Hitchcock came onto the international scene with his "The Man Who Knew Too Much" in 1934."
He is known to be one of the most innovative directors ever, and he put out thriller after thriller which could be from dark, evil, and always seem to surprise the audience. The 1950s and early 1960s was the period of his best work.
