Comcast has launched a new video-on-demand service which offers support to women dealing with breast cancer.
Starting September 24, they will be putting together about 40 programs to inspire and educate people concerning the disease. Included will be how to detect the disease early and what is to be expected during the stages of treatment.
“Through Breast Cancer Hope, we are providing a resource that can make a meaningful, lasting impact on people's lives by raising awareness and providing information about the disease,” said Comcast senior vp, new media Matt Strauss. “Our goal is to make it easy for women to explore this important topic from the privacy and convenience of their own homes.”
Sponsoring the initiative will be Lifetime, which is also partnering with breastcancer.org to create original content to provide during the project. The content will be available through October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
There is also a Web site filled with information to coincide with the effort, which can be accessed at comcast.net/breastcancer.
Over 40,000 American women die from breast cancer yearly.
