"Eastern Promises," the handiwork of Canadian director David Cronenberg, was awarded the "fan favorite" at the Toronto International Film Festival Saturday, winning the People's Choice Award.
Reviews for the film in the U.S. have been strong, and stars Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts. Cronenberg has been promoting the film and wasn't on hand to receive the award, which drew cheers from fans when announced as the winner.
