A new face for domestic violence?
Entertainment televangelist Juanita Bynum has filed a petition for divorce against estranged husband Thomas Weeks III. According to Bynum's attorney Karla Walker, the filing cites cruel treatment.
Weeks is accused of attacking Bynum in a parking lot after having dinner where they were trying to work on improving their marriage, alleging he choked, pushed and stomped her, ending with threatening to kill her. Weeks is not allowed to have contact with Bynum.
On Weeks side, his lawyers said he is still hoping the two can reconcile. Weeks also said last week that he'll provide his side of the story at the appropriate time.
One of Weeks' attorneys, Randy Kessler, added they're considering to file a counterclaim accusing Juanity Bynum of cruel treatment as well.
"Cruel treatment is a very vague legal term," Kessler said. "There's a possibility that there's cruel treatment on both sides, but we're not committed to that position."
The divorce petition was filed in Ware County. The couple have been separated since June.
