O.J. Simpson was named a suspect Friday in what he said was a "sting operation," but what the alleged victims said was an armed robbery.
Las Vegas Metro Police Capt. James Dillon confirmed the complaint was reported as an armed robbery. Dillon added that no weapons had been found yet and no charges filed as of that time.
So what did O.J.'s sting operation consist of? He met some guys at a wedding cocktail party and took them along with him to get property he says was his from a room at the Palace Station casino.
Simpson claims it all came about when an auction house owner, Tom Riccio contacted him a few weeks ago saying that collectors "have a lot of your stuff and they don't want anyone to know they are selling it."
Riccio evidently arranged a meeting under the guise of having a private collector interested in purchasing Simpson's memorabilia. Simpson claims Riccio simply came to the lobby to get him and they entered the room together with his guys he met at the wedding part of a friend.
David Cook, the lawyer of the father of murder victim Ron Goldman, says he'll seek a court order on Tuesday to get all the items Simpson retrieved in Las Vegas.
