The owners of Mutts and Moms, an animal rescue organization, have received death threats after Ellen DeGeneres irresponsibly used her position as TV talk host in an attempt to manipulate the situation.
DeGeneres put on a performance of tears, as if in some way she had been wronged, when a dog she had placed in her home didn't get along with the cats she had. So instead of returning the dog to the organization, per the agreement, she took it upon herself to place the dog in the home of her hairdresser.
Of course the animal rescue organization had to take the dog back, as the agreement stated.
Not liking that decision, DeGeneres went on TV and ended up revealing the situation, which initiated a hate campaign against the owners, as her viewers have sent death threats through emails and phone messages to the animal rescue owners.
Keith A. Fink, a lawyer for rescue group owner Marina Batkis, says, "She (Batkis) is adamant that she is not going to be bullied around by the Ellen DeGenereses of the world. They are using their power, position and wealth to try to get what it is they want."
Fink added that "Most of them are hate e-mails threatening them with lynchings, bombings of their home."
In a strange response, DeGeneres said, "This is so insane. It's just the dog needs to go to the family."
The lawyer for Batkis is right, DeGeneres is attempting to bully the owners of the animal rescue organization, using her celebrity and talk show pulpit. Who is DeGeneres, who rejected the dog, and made a poor decision in the first place as a fit for her home, now suddenly to assert she has the wisdom to make the decision on where the dog should go?
Batkin wisely added, "If Ellen wants to place dogs and decide what's a good home, then she should start her own rescue group. But I'm the one doing this and I know what I'm doing."
DeGeneres needs to just be quiet and quit making statements that end up with her viewers terrorizing these people with threats.
She needs to take responsibility for her actions and statements and admit she's screwed up and leave it alone.

Everyone seems overly concerned for the dog. I think you're right in noting that Ellen made some bad choices - firstly that the dog was going to fit in with her other pets - secondly that she gave the dog away when she clearly wasn't allowed to - and thirdly that she broke down on National TV in such an overly dramatic and irrational way.
