Early last night Gary Collins was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
While Collins was driving along, an 80-year-old man (why's he still have a license) didn't yield and crashed into Collin's Ford Explorer, at about 5:30 p.m.
Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Norma Eisenman said, "[Collins] lost control of the vehicle and struck two parked cars. When officers arrived at the scene, they smelled alcohol and issued a field sobriety test, which he subsequently failed."
Fortunately for Collins he didn't leave the scene, as bystanders encouraged him to
stay, with the other driver of the car seriously injured. Collins had mentioned he had to get somewhere.
After the police came to the scene, Collins was administered a field sobriety test, which he ended up failing. The officers also attempted to perform a Breathalyzer test on Collins four times, but he claimed he wasn't able to hear what they being said.
While Collins was booked into the Van Nuys Jail for misdemeanor DUI, and was released on $40,000 bail. The driver of the car that hit him is in critical condition.
Collins currently hosts "Now Playing with Gary Collins" on the Comcast Retirement Living TV channel, and has numerous appearances in TV, movies and hosted the Miss American pageant from 1982 to 1990.

More and more Hollywood celebrities are getting caught in the dragnet of DUI. I am amazed by this.
What do they spend their millions on?
The least they can do is to call a cab or better still, a limo service when they went out to drink to pick them up afterwards.
And why can't they afford a driver to drive them around?
Again I ask, what do they spend their millions on?
Gary Collins is a cool guy and it is a pity he committed this type of serious offense. He ought to know better.
