Now that George Lucas has finished shooting "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," he is setting his attention on creating a new TV project dealing with the Star Wars world, although without the original characters in mind.
"The Skywalkers aren't in it, and it's about minor characters," Lucas said in an interview. "It has nothing to do with Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader or any of those people. It's completely different. But it's a good idea, and it's going to be a lot of fun to do."
Lucas is also in the middle of creating a computer-animated 3-D series called "Star Wars: The Clone Wars."
For the live-action project, Lucas figures that it will eventually include about 100 episodes.
Rick McCallum, who is producing the series, says they are currently interviewing for writers, and the show may be modeled on the 3-D animated series, although that's in no way decided at this time.
Lucas also has plans in the works to offer the original six Star Wars episodes in 3-D digital format, and release them again in theaters.
