When it comes to sports, there's one thing you can count on, and that's you can't count on anything.
In this particular baseball World Series, it has all the makings of a blockbuster, which could end up drawing a large number of viewers, but things don't also cooperate in the way we want.
One thing this year that should guarantee some decent ratings is the fact that the Boston Red Sox are in the series. The region and town they represent will tune in big time to see their regional representatives play; even the hated New York Yankees fans.
But if things go easy for either team, with one team winning the games quickly, fans tend to tune out, thinking the competition is over, which it usually is.
Even so, if the Series is competitive, it could bring in some good numbers. You have the favored, legendary Boston Red Sox with all their history, against the upstart Rockies, wanting to secure their own place in history.
You have the Rockies who have been winning in a big way, taking 21 of the last 22 contests. On the other hand, Boston closed out Cleveland in a huge way also.
so all the buildup is there, which if it plays out the way it is hoped, could be a real entertaining and fun World Series to watch. Now if the teams will just cooperate with us, there should be some big viewer numbers to boast about.
If it's competitive at all, there should be good ratings this year.
