In what looks like a prelude to the launch of their own video site "Hulu," all NBC video clips, along with the NBC channel were taken off the YouTube site on Sunday.
With the site scheduled to be officially launched by the end of the October, it seems this is a message to YouTube (GOOG) that they won't be getting any of the material any time soon.
I thought it might stay up because of the announcement that the content would remains exclusive, but still be distributed across the Web. Evidently NBC (GE) has decided not to keep their content up on the video-sharing site.
Hulu is a site developed by News Corp. (NWS-A) and NBC, which will offer video content from the two companies free.
The NBC Channel on YouTube was one of the more popular on YouTube. It'll be interesting to see if once the two companies start distributing video content if YouTube will be part of the picture.
In the beginning we'll probably see Hulu keep the content on site in order to develop a strong connection before syndicating it across the web. But who knows, maybe they are ready to syndicate right away, but I guess YouTube won't be part of it.
