British comedian Simon Pegg will be the next "Scotty" to beam up his fellow shipmates on the Starship Enterprise.
Pegg will play the Starship engineer, which James Doohan originally made famous in the first TV series.
The film is a prequel to the lives of the characters, as it looks at the early part of their careers; including Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock.
Already signed on for the project are Leonard Nimoy, Eric Bana and Zachary Quinto. Young Captain Kirk may be played by Chris Pine, who is rumored to be in negotiations for the part.
The 11th film in the series will be directed by J.J. Abrams, who created the hit "Lost." The film will start shooting in November 2007.
I think he'll be a great Scotty, but he needs to go to the Doohan website and get a dilithium crystal for more power.
