Family-Friendly The Game Plan, starring The Rock, held on to its number one position for the weekend box office, bringing in $16.3 million its second time around. The film only dropped by 29 percent showing tremendous staying power.
Listening to some people talk, they act surprised that the film was able to hold on to first place; it shows they still don't get it. Parents are looking for quality entertainment to watch with their children, which offers a good experience for both. To act surprised over the staying power of a family-friendly film is ignorant at best. There's a huge demand for them.
Ben Stiller's The Heartbreak Kid opened horribly, as it was only able to take in $14 million to end up in the second place position. When you consider he reteamed with the Farrelly brothers, who he worked with on There's Something About Mary, Paramount and Dreamworks will be disappointed in the poor performance. It's doubtful it'll have any staying power.
Taking the third place position for the weekend box office was The Kingdom, with Jennifer Garner and Jamie Foxx. There weren't able to hold their second week, and dropped to $9.3 million after opening to a fair $17.1 million last week. They aren't going to make back their $80 million domestically.

This is a movie that one cannot miss seeing. The Rock is proving to be a great actor. It seems acting flows in his blood. His star is going to shine even brighter in the future.
