According to anonymous sources, broadway stagehands will begin to strike Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. The unnamed source, close to the negotiations but not authorized to speak officially on the matter, released the information.
The League of American Theatres and Producers and Local One of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, have been in contentious negotiations over the last two days, and no ground was gained, with meetings not producing any agreement.
Consequently, the majority of Broadway theaters should shut down. The exception will be non-profit theaters and those theaters not connected to the League, which have shows such as "Xanadu," "Mary Poppins" and "Young Frankenstein" at this time.
The strike should also shut down the Dr. Seuss musical, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" which was to be an early matinee starting at 11 a.m.
