With the Knight Rider film put on hold, it has given David Hasselhoff the opportunity to return to network television as Michael Knight, in a sequel to the hit series. Hasselhoff is reportedly in talks to play the popular character again.
With NBC (GE) desperate for a hit, they are hoping the reintroduction of the series will end up performing like its predecessor.
This time around, the son of Michael Knight, played by Justing Bruening, will do the driving honors for Kitt, which will be brought back as an updated version of the Knight Industries Two Thousand, and now dubbed the Knight Industries Three Thousand. Some early indications are the new car could include abilities similar to those of the Transformers.
Hasselhoff has to riding high with this news, as for years he's wanted to bring the series back to television.
It's not clear at this time how big a part Hasselhoff will play in the new series.
Producing the project will be Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity), who may also be the director of the pilot of the series if he can fit it into his busy schedule.
