Citadel Broadcasting Corp. has hired Don Imus to air a new nationally syndicated radio show starting December 3. The show will be aired through ABC Radio Networks, which Citadel owns. This comes about six months after Imus was fired for on-air controversial racial slurs he made.
The broadcast will come from the AM-radio station WABC in New York, from where it will be syndicated nationwide.
On the Web site of the radio station, General Manager Steve Borneman said, "We are ecstatic to bring Don Imus back to morning radio. Don's unique brand of humor, knowledge of the issues and ability to attract big-name guests is unparalleled. He is rested, fired up and ready to do great radio,"
Along with Imus, Charles McCord, will also be returning to the broadcast, who was his right hand man for years on the show.
This of course confirms the reports and rumors that Citadel was about to close a deal to return Imus to the airwaves.
After being terminated, Imus and CBS (CBS-A) settled their contract dispute which opened the way for Imus to return to radio. Word is the settlement came in somewhere between $10 million to $20 million.
