The pretty TV chef 37-year-old Giada De Laurentiis announced on the "Today" show that she and her husband Todd Thompson are going to have a baby. She also excitedly said she's found out it's going to be a little girl.
Giada is the star of Food Network's "Giada's Weekend Getaways" and "Everyday Italian." She also has bestselling cookbooks on the New York Times (NYT) list "Giada's Family Dinners" and "Everyday Italian." Husband Todd Thompson is a clothing designer.
“Evert single person, every book signing I do, every public appearance, my friends, everybody telling me the same thing: ‘You know you’re getting older! You can’t have children forever!’” she said. “When I found out I was pregnant, I was in complete shock. Just shock. I truly didn’t believe it. I honestly thought, ‘there has got to be a mistake.’”
You're probably thinking you've heard that last name before, if you don't watch Giada on the Food Network, and you have. She's the granddaughter of Dino de Laurentiis and Silvana Mangano. Dino de Laurentiis produced a number of big hit films over the years, including "Blue Velvet," "Serpico," "Three Days of the Condor" and "Hannibal."
Giada, who has been married to Thompson since 2003, said the baby is due the first week of April.
