The attempt by certain elements in Hollywood to us Iraq as the scenario to build their propaganda movies around has backfired, as moviegoers long ago tired of their pathetic attempt to communicate something based in lies.
Part of the problem is probably the release of films in a middle of a conflict that hasn't been sorted out in people's minds yet. In the past, filmmakers have usually waited until some time after the conflict to find out and portray stories that happened within the battle.
Now they're simply attempting to take some of the more negative aspects of the war, like Brian DePalma has in his depiction of U.S. soldiers raping and murdering an Iraqi schoolgirl in Redacted. While it is based on a true story, the vast majority of Americans know what DePalma is attempting to do and have rejected it.
Another stupid film "Rendition," is the portrayal of the outsourcing of the interrogation of terror suspects. It's only taken in about $10 million at the box office. Nobody cares about this garbage.
Americans know that, overall, American soldiers and commanders are high quality people that do their best to perform their jobs. They are sickened by the Hollywood goons that attempt to make everything happening in the war look like American soldiers and leaders are evil.
This all goes back to the purpose of film and movies, which is to be entertaining and an escape for people from the struggles of everyday life. To bring this kind of junk to the big screen has been voted on by the people as being unacceptable. In this case Hollywood is missing in action.
Have they already forgotten what made this summer so successful? It was the fun, entertaining movies that were presented. Not this war garbage that is so slanted, bias and anti-American that very few people go to see them.
