George Osmond, father of the extraordinarily successful entertainment family "The Osmonds," died Tuesday morning at home at the age of 90.
Mr. Osmond, along with his late wife Olive, had trained and tutored their sons Donny, Jay, Alan, Merill and Wayne to become entertainment sensations around the world.
Later on they were joined by their sister Marie (who has left the Dancing with the Stars show), and a younger brother Jimmy. The Donny & Marie show become one of the most popular variety shows in the 1970s.
Marie won't be at the Dancing with the Stars results show, as she went home to be with her family. On Monday Marie actually danced a performance dedicated to her parents, which she received a score of 28 out of 30. Mrs. Osmond (Olive) passed away in 2004.
There's no news yet on whether the Osmonds will keep their scheduled appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show Friday.
George Osmond is survived by his children Donny, Marie, Alan, Jay, Jimmy, Merrill, Wayne, Tom and Virl.

Dear Marie, Donnie, and to all your family:
May God comfort you in the loss of your dad. I have followed you both for many years and enjoyed each and every one of your performances. Your dad was a brilliant man....and a truly good man. My dad has just been placed in a nursing home alzheimers unit in Iowa due to passing from stage 3 to stage 4 violent alzheimers behavior, age 76. My grandma use to say....there are worse things than death. Your dad has gone home to be with your mom...forever. Forever in Love in Life...and now forever in love in eternity. May God bless you and know that many of us believers will be praying for you all. And Marie...when it is time honey.....on Dancing with the stars...Go For It...in honor of mom and dad. You can do it.
From the Class of 77, God Bless...and Mr. Mac from Iowa.
